I have a great appreciation for architecture, just like walking through an art gallery and being taken in by the works, I consider wandering the streets of cities and towns the same. I believe that architects are incredible artists who have a great vision for space, line, balance, color, shape, texture, form and light. Much like photographers try to bring elements together to give their photos more depth, so do architects. If a building has a lot of depth and a good balance of elements it jumps out at me and all I want to do is get a camera out and start capturing my perspective of the work. Canberra being the capital of Australia is fortunate to be able to host many of the national institutions. Buildings such as the National Gallery, The High Court, The National Library, The National Museum, The National Portrait Gallery and of course Parliament House are stunning pieces of work, whether you love them or hate them, they are unique and bold, something that is not seen as practical by the general public at times... but I like many others admire them.
