Rottnest Island

On the second last day of the week long Perth trip, my mate Milewski and I caught the ferry out to Rottnest Island. Rottnest means Rat Nest in Dutch, it was named this because in 1658 Dutch mariner Samuel Volckertzoon saw the local mammal on the island; Quokka's and thought it was a large rat, it's been named that ever since. Now that the history is out of the way, Milew and I jumped on our bikes and began to ride around the island. This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen and never knew something like it existed in Australia. It was a great day out and I highly recommend taking a trip out and visiting the island if you are ever in Perth.

A day at the races

After an epic New Years Eve party in the streets of Perth, New Years day would be spent at Ascot Race Course. A top day however the temperature was 40 degrees most of the time, not the best weather to be in a long sleeve shirt and long pants but one had best be dressed up when attending the races. The people attending the event were some of the nicest people I've ever met, all were happy to allow me to photograph them. I look forward to heading back again sometime in the future to party once more with the people of Perth.
