Project “1 Year On” The Calgary Stampede

Road into the town of Calgary conveniently during the Stampede; Claimed to be the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. The town was full of dressed up cowboys and cowgirls so I was left with no option but to pick up my very own cowboy hat, belt and a few other accessories so I could join in the party. I have never seen a city get so into a festival before. I made my way into the Stampede grounds and got tickets to see the rodeo, a very impressive show that I highly recommend going to see. Basically its cowboys and cowgirls showing off their skills and competing to be the top of their chosen field. While risking their lives to do so!

The weather on this particular day was unpredictable to say the least, it would go from sunny to raining to hail and back to sunny again within a matter of minutes. Which left people ducking for cover and running all over the grounds, a perfect opportunity for me to get some interesting shots. So enjoy :)

Cheers

Project “1 Year On” Banff Town

I felt like I had crossed the border into a foreign Australian territory, the aussies were everywhere and I was joining them, this would have to be Banff. On my first day I had a random run in with my friend from Calgary who I wasn't meant to be seeing for a few days, it was nice to hang out with her and her dog. We wandered around the alpine town to see a few of the sights like the magnificent Banff Springs Hotel. I also caught up with a few friends from back home who had just driven up from California in a van. We hit the town later that night dressed up in various outfits and proceeded to dance the night away with the locals. While feeling sorry for myself the next day it bucketed down rain so I had an excuse to edit some images from the trip thus far. When the weather cleared I headed for Sulphur Mountain, trekked the 5.7km to the top and got to enjoy some of the best views I will likely to see in my lifetime. Being up 2,451 m (8,041 ft) from the sea and adding on top of that a cracking sunset... you can't go wrong. These are the photos from the trek. Enjoy :)

Can't forget the typical tourist photo to show everyone back home where you've been :)
